The “Coming” Day 3

Hi Everyone,

Posting Day 3 late in the day after having enjoyed the full moon from the rooftop sipping a shot of tequila.  I arrived in Puerto Vallarta late this afternoon and I've enjoyed a gorgeous evening with my dear friend and yogi, Anna Hite and her darling family.  Anna is the owner of Davannayoga…location of my MORE Retreat in January.

The "Coming" Day 3

Loosen your grip.

What are you gripping so tightly it keeps you up at night,
steals your joy, is the obsession of your thoughts and is driven by the fear
that if you loosen your grip, the outcome will not be favorable?

Breathe your deepest breath.

Place your closed fists in front of you and allow them to
relax.  Breathe.

Open your palms and raise them heavenward.

Relax.

Do you feel the tension release?

This exercise can be a sacred statement that you are willing
to loosen your grip, at least in the physical world.

The Grip is stress inducing, prevents forward movement,
keeps us locked in our own personal prison and finds it’s harbor in fear.

I’m just asking, “Is that what you want?”  If so, so be it.   I’ve learned to appreciate
and respect that not everyone is ready for, nor wants freedom.  I don’t understand it but, for some
people gripping is preferred.
It must be why the Help won’t pry our fists open.  It’s mannerly.  I like that.

BUT the Good News is that the  “Coming” season is all about letting go.  You see,  the “Coming” begins with this  baby born of a young woman who was engaged to be married
i.e. she was not married yet.  In
those days, that was risky business because she could have been stoned  for having sexual relations outside
marriage.  I have no doubt,  she struggled with gripping fear and
shame around her situation.
Christians claim it was a virgin birth, true or false, it wouldn't have factor
into her situation at the time and
I believe it wouldn’t have minimized the shame this young woman
faced.  Her cousin was the only
person at that time, who bought her story.   Her husband to be, “quietly” accepted it and married
her anyway.

So, I’ve been wondering.  She could have gripped onto the shame for years, rubbed her
child in it, raised him to shame their unconventional beginning.  According to the history books, this
young woman looked deep inside herself, found the truth along with  a courageous spirit and prayed for Help
and you know the rest of the story.
SHE raised a SON, who became a man, who changed the world.

The “Coming” is a story of loosening one’s grip on

cultural beliefs

tradition

the outcome

a relationship

personal shame and condemnation

what other’s may think about whatever we do, our choices and
the situations in which we find ourselves AND

the power of Help to dramatically change the course of our
future.

IF we’re willing to loosen our grip.

The truth is that Help will never enter your life and pry
your fists open.

They must be open, if ever slightly.

The “Coming” season is an invitation to loosen your grip.
