"Slip into Silence"
Thanks to Desiree Adaway who shared about Silence yesterday in her weekly post called Wednesday's Wisdom.
Silence
That baby Mary birthed, Jesus, "the reason for the season," well, he "slipped into Silence" regularly. Throughout his life he was known to withdraw to be alone and silent.
Silence
*complete absence of sound
*the fact or state of abstaining from speech
*the avoidance of mentioning or discussing something
*the state of standing still and not speaking as a sign of respect for someone deceased or in an opportunity for prayer
Silence
A rare commodity in today's media driven culture.
Allows us to connect to our true selves.
Silence provides breathing room, transition and awareness.
Silence can be uncomfortable but that's just because we're not accustomed to it.
Silence gets easier with practice. I promise.
Silence
Leads us into a deeper connection with the divine.
"Be still and know that I am God." -Proverbs
"Silence is a source of great strength." ~Lao Tzu
When you want to be strong, be still.
There's so much I could say about Silence.
But I won't, because I prefer my own Silence and your Silence to anything else I could share today.
Advent is an invitation to "slip into Silence."
