I'm wondering if you know why I do what I do? It's possible you don't care but according to Simon Sinik's TED talk, "The Golden Circle," my "why" is why you would connect with what I do, or not. Since you read my blog, I'm guessing you're connecting.
If you receive my newsletter you know I'm participating in a six week blog class, "Blog More Stress Less" led by the online brilliant branding goddess, Laurie Foley. On our first call yesterday she recommended we define the why of our blog and directed us to Simon's TED talk. Faithful student am I, so this morning I did my homework and listened to Simon's captivating message and felt compelled to get to the bottom of my "why." He had me so on fire, I'm sharing it with you.
Why do I blog, why am I a coach, why am I who I am, Why?
It all started when I was 14 years old and I had this spiritual awakening to Jesus. My relationship (notice I didn't say religion or Sunday church attendance) with Jesus rocked my world and continues to do so. At that impressionable age, I read that Jesus said, "The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy but I come to give life, life abundant, life to the full." Just what I wanted as a high schooler; and I believed it.
The quote also informed me that exist a force with the intention to destroy.
Naturally, I wanted abundant life!
And I have purposefully pursued it at every stage in my life.
No surprise, I have lived an abundant life.
Has it always been easy, without challenges and heart ache?
Hell no.
I think sometimes we just get it wrong.
We think abundance means there is no pain but I believe it is through pain and struggle that we are led to our very best, captivating abundant lives IF we are seeking abundance.
I'm about to go off on a tangent so let me be clear about my why first.
I blog, I coach, I married, I had children, I adopted, I moved outside my home country, I kayak and do crazy things like show up at a boxing gym unannounced, I cook, eat and drink, I love wholeheartedly because well, I believe abundant life is available and I want it for myself and I want it for you and you and you and you. I believe in myself to live it and I believe I can help others take their rightful place at the banquet table over flowing with the best wine and most flavorful cuisine from around the world. I want to feast, celebrate and imbibe in the gift that is life with each one of you.
In my own life I've learned living abundantly requires connection to my spirit and the force that is larger than me thus I write about soulful connections. I take the sum of all I've learned and am still learning and attempt to break it down into bite size pieces for this modern mouth piece called a blog.
I don't always feel confident with my writing but I'm driven by this idea that life is meant to be DeLightFull and abundant and my call is to inspire others toward abundance.
I'm a healer. Why? Because people are hurting. During my life journey as I interacted with friends and people, my touch, emotional, physical or spiritual healed them, and so I go forth a healer. To feel abundant, we need to be healed because when we are hurting life doesn't feel abundant. Healing helps us to see a harvest in our pain and leads us towards abundance.
I'm a coach. Why? Because I know in order to have an abundant life, we need to grow strong. Back to the forces that seek to destroy. We can be our own greatest evil force seeking self destruction with thoughts that kill, habits that rob and beliefs that keep us gripped in lack rather than abundance. So, I coach to help people break free of anything that threatens the abundant life.
Are you a believer in abundance? If so, grab your goblet and let's toast. Cha ching!
