The “Coming” Day 6

You are chosen.

So now what?

Perhaps you've already hit the high seas of following your path and the waves are crashing down mightier than you had imagined.  If I'm following my path, shouldn't it be easy?

No, not really.  Sorry but it's true.  The high seas will not always be  raging but they are a part of the journey, just as the sun will rise, storms will come.

As I consider the "Coming" I'm stuck on Mary, at least for now.   We get to view her from an historical context.  She always appears submissive, quiet, serene albeit strong and believing.  A lens that has portrayed her as the writers wanted her to be remembered for posterity sake but I simply cannot believe that her journey was littered with roses and no thorns.  She left her family, pregnant, not married on a donkey.  Come on, that doesn't sound appealing!  If she would have had a traditional birth, she would have had the comfort and attendance of the women in her tribe. And let me tell you back then that was a lot more than we get today!  Instead she trades it in for hay, animals, strangers and a wild vision she has been given by angels. She is literally hanging onto hope that something supernatural is taking place and she is a major player in the pageant.   It is the hope of a greater plan, not yet seen with the physical eyes, that is bigger than herself, her cultural constraints and traditions.

That takes guts!

I've been there.  Not there as in, world-wide ramifications like Mary but "Dana-size" big deals.   Stepping out from the comforts of a life I knew into something bigger than myself yet birthed from spiritual experiences that didn't necessarily allow me to hang onto something for security in the physical world.

I imagine Mary hung onto her chat with Gabriel, the angel, her cousin, Elizabeth's confirmation (Luke 1:39 if you want to look it up) and the willingness of her husband to be, Joseph's, cooperation.

You have to find that sign, word, spiritual experience to hang onto when you're on the path and the raging waters are crashing in.  Early on during our adoption when I thought I couldn't go another step, I returned time after time to my spiritual moment in the ocean when I felt the call to adopt.  The experience was so real to me, I could never deny it.  I knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that we were meant to go down the adoption path as a family.  When I said, "yes" I didn't realize how tough it would eventually become however I was able to return to my moment of inspiration and say "yes" over and over again to the call regardless of the challenges.

If you are facing the raging waters.  Return to the moment of inspiration that put you on the path.

Look for spiritual assistance to Help you on the journey.  I promise it will present itself in your moment of despair.  The Help will sustain during affliction and challenges and comfort during times of doubt and fear.

What situation in your life is asking you to call out for Help?   Be courageous and get the Help you need.  If you need "help" in determining where to get "help" I'm happy to chat with you.

Peace and Joy!
