The “Coming” Day 11

BREATHE.

It's just about this time in the "Coming" season that the intention to be intentional gets derailed by _____________, you fill in the blank.

I was totally thrown off the tracks this week.  I returned from Mexico  Monday night to two sick kids, empty cupboards, winter storms blowing and going, the culmination of my daughters participation in her first high school musical, the list could continue, but I'll spare you.  To this mother of five children, chaos is a regular friend in our home.

So what do you do when your good intentions take a detour?

Breathe.  It's not the end of the world.

Be nice to yourself.

Make a conscious decision about your next step and choose something that is going to feel yummy.  I did this morning.  After I got my son out the door to ski camp, I decided to prepare yesterday's blog post, Day 10, a day late, with no harsh judgement or criticism.   I'm doing this for fun not torture.

When all else fails, just keep breathing.  Breathe deeply into your stomach to four counts, hold for seven, release to the  count of eight.  Just when you think you have released all the air, trust me, there's more in there.  Finally use your abdominal muscles to release the air setting in the bottom of your lungs and you'll be releasing the toxins which accumulate due to over dependence on shallow chest breathing.   Do this sequence several times and you'll create space for fresh oxygenated air which will be a breath of fresh air to your system from the tip of your toes to the top of your head.

Take time to breathe and you will put yourself back on the track of intention.

Breathe.

  • Right on time! I do believe that the universe gives you what you need when you need it…..I glanced at the Days before but today I read 10 and boy was it me. I had a rollercoaster week that was if it could go wrong it did but now…..I’m breathing but not the deep ones you talked about that renew and revive the battered spirit and supply energy for the new challenges ahead. Thanks much!
